24th September 2010 –update.
Due to the survey I did on the 23rd of September, I was be able to decide which “Title” I was going to use for my school, magazine. The pie chart below shows exactly how I gathered my information.
Being Competitive – 0
Victory – 1
Successful – 1
Reaching for success – 12
The Best – 4
Aim High – 1
This pie chart demonstrates, that the majority of the votes gained ‘’Reaching for success.” This is essentially, because students in my school thought, it stands out the most, and is a very short powerful statement, which would suit my school magazine, ever since it is not a long masthead, but yet very authoritative. Conversely, I also thought that both of the words make sense on it’s possess. This is significant, since they both have different meanings, e.g. – “Reaching” implies that everyone strikes to be the best and compete with their same aged groups, whereas “success” already illustrates achieved accomplishment. However, in order to make this statement (“Reaching for success”) to stand out, I need to consider the size, colour and type of writing within the magazine used. Further into my research I will demonstrate some of the few examples I have chosen, which will illustrate the flourishing and comprehensible mastheads of a school magazine. Although, the other few mastheads that I congregated in my survey weren’t as appealing as “Reaching for success” and “The Best.” Therefore, I considered that they weren’t going to be as influential as the ones that gained the most votes. This is mainly, because the individuals that I questioned were those that were in a learning environment, and as a result their opinion is the most significant, since they are the key audience that are going to pick up this magazine. Consequently, the headline has to stand out, in order to attract this audience.
